I Empower ME

Does it empower you? A question I was asked when I was shown a pic of a woman expressing “freedom” through her semi naked body.

My answer was: “I empower myself!” Lol.

Now I didn’t say that because I found something wrong with the pic nor did I find anything wrong with her being semi-naked, nor that being naked is not empowering. It just didn’t empower me. read more

Flower Remedies and Spiritual Cleansing

And it happened, I felt a sudden surge of anxieties flow through my body as I lied on my bed in darkness, thinking about all of the things I felt needed to be adjusted in my life. As it got closer to my heart, I felt a forceful grip and a feeling that a deep hole was being dug.  Fear began to spread like spilled water from a running faucet when suddenly, the eyes of my soul opened up and I fought back by yelling , “No!”.  Slowly, I felt the release of the grip and a myriad of colors and fun cartoon like pictures began to flow through my mind. Your curls ain’t like mine

Eventually I knew what my hair wanted, it wanted to be itself…to be left alone by anyone, including me, who did not love it as it was. Alice Walker

I approached the glass window at the fish department and began to look inside to see if I could find any fresh looking fish. A woman behind the counter asked if I needed any help as she complemented me on my hair.

“Wow, I love your hair!”

I replied “Thank you.” She then said, “I’ve always wanted to go natural, but I want my hair to curl like yours.”

I paused for a second and responded, “You should definitely go natural, however,  you will have your own beautiful curl pattern!”

I smiled and walked away feeling like I accomplished something by encouraging her to embrace her natural hair.  But what she didn’t know, is that I too, like her, wanted my curls to be like someone else’s. read more
