#30 Sunday Afternoons

“Every person needs to take one day away. A day in which one consciously separates the past from the future. Jobs, family, employers, and friends can exist one day without any one of us, and if our egos permit us to confess, they could exist eternally in our absence. Each person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not withdraw from us.” ― Maya Angelou

As she look in retrospect, she realized the only things that mattered were the cup filled with sugar and manioc flour mixed together, the mayo sandwich on old bread, and the leftover condensed milk inside of a can with a sharp edge cut lid.  Yes, it was all she wanted in a world full of chaos.  Where to ask a simple question results into an argument, where to give someone the upper hand is a sign of one’s weakness.  She longed for the days where the only fear she had was of the things seen and not the ones created on her mind. Welcome to Sunday afternoons.

  1. Grateful – for God’s grace and favour.  I’ve learned that God gives us enough Grace for that day.  Tomorrow supply will be delivered tomorrow.  It really forces you to live in the now.
  2. Waste of time – When someone is feeling sorry for themselves, let them. After they are through, help them.
  3. Something new – if you punch a hole on either side of the box of the aluminum foil and plastic wrap, it will hold it in place.
